The project entitled Advocating for the passing of shark conservation policies and preparation for their implementation aims to establish legal frameworks for the conservation of sharks in the Philippines at the national level and support shark and ray listings in the upcoming Conference of Parties to the CITES. The passing of these policies and support to the listings are expected to result in the protection of Threatened shark and ray species; the emphasis of their importance to the Philippine economy, biodiversity, and ecology; and the promotion of sustainable fisheries and management.
