To advance in the fight against illegal fishing, the proposed project intends to advance a series of processes for strengthening the capacities of the Colombian authorities. This includes the improvement and updating of a national platform for registering fishing vessels, the creation of a dedicated environmental jurisdiction institution, and the increased capacity of judges and prosecutors to deal with environmental crimes and conflicts. As an overall result, this project will bring Colombia closer to the adoption and compliance of the Port State Measures Agreement and to sustainable use of fishing resources.
